Save My Ink Forever has been immortalising the dead for nearly a decade.

Their intention with the bizarre memorial method is to ensure that the spirit and legacy of loved ones can live on forever.

Katie, who preserved her husband Ross’ inkings, has a love heart, a slice of pizza, a rocket ship and a skull next to the words “howdy” framed and up in her home – with his skin as the background.

“It’s so different from having his belt or his hat, I have actually him,” Katie told Founder Insights.

Another customer is Chris, who decided before he passed away to get his whole back and arm sleeves preserved.

It acted as a final dedication to a craft he loved.

Once the company, based in Ohio, US, has been contacted about a potential tattoo removal, they send a package kit to the funeral home, with instructions on how to complete the extraction process.
