A man has revealed he has made £14,000 by flogging his old video games and toys online.
Gaming buff, Wyatt Self, started listing Pokémon figurines, Nintendo consoles and various old games.
The 27-year-old was stunned to see how much money he could make with a simple clear out, even making £10,200 in just one year.
His success has meant he has been able to fund his Masters degree in Business Management, with video games selling for up to £46 a pop.
Wyatt, who uses eBay to flog his old goods, even sparked something of a bidding war online, reports Absolutely Business.
“I put my Pokémon figurines up for auction not thinking that anyone would really be that interested, but I couldn’t have been more wrong,” the accounts administrator, from Liverpool, said.
“Just minutes before the auction ended, there was a huge bidding war and they ended up selling for significantly higher than the market price.
“It was super exciting to watch and just shows that there’s a buyer for everything on eBay, no matter how niche the item.”
Some of Wyatt’s other successful sales include a Nintendo 3DS for £180, and a selection of Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Switch games, including Mario Golf (£30), The Legend of Zelda (£46) and NFL Street (£24).
As a Pokémon expert, he’s also sold several GameBoy Advance games for an average of £190.
One of his most unexpected profits came from the sale of five finger-sized Pokémon toys, with the most highest-reaching figurine bagging him £142.
And outside of games and consoles, Wyatt has also sold fashion items from pre-loved Nike to vintage watches, including Seiko and Geneva, making a surprise bonus profit of £28.
His most profitable sale to date was a Gameboy advance lot at £520.
He now plans to expand into other categories in his bid to have a clear-out and earn extra funds.
Wyatt has shared advice for other budding sellers on the site: “Find a market that you can specialise in and that you feel passionate about.
“Become as knowledgeable as you can about the resale values as this helps you quickly identify when something is a good deal and then you can make more money on it.”
