Morrisons Sells Pumpkins For Just 75p This Halloween After Shopper Backlash In 2022 – Beating Aldi And Lidl

Morrisons has announced its popular medium-sized pumpkins will be sold for just 75p – beating out both Aldi and Lidl.

The news follows backlash from last year when shoppers slammed the retailer for pricing its giant-sized pumpkins at £8.99.

Morrisons was mentioned Facebook shopping group post, with customers “shocked” at the pricing – especially when compared to other supermarkets, as reported by Manchester Evening News in October 2022.

One customer said: “Wow! They’re so cheap elsewhere so that’s got to be an error.”

Another person added: “That’s crazy they were no more than 3 quid last year for a massive one.”

With Brits spending an estimated £777m on Halloween a year, according to Morrisons, high prices are enough to frighten any parent.

The supermarket chain claims its 2023 medium product is the “cheapest supermarket pumpkin” available.

A web search shows medium-sized pumpkins priced at 95p at Aldi and £2 at Lidl.

Shoppers can also snag munchkin pumpkins for 59p, large pumpkins at £1.99, and ghost pumpkins, at £2.99.

But the controversial giant pumpkin is still priced the same – at £8.99.

However, customers using the brand’s More card will get a discount on the large pumpkin, which will cost just 99p.

“Any seasonal moment can be a cause for celebration but with budgets also top of mind this year we hope that by offering these cut-price options parents and little shoppers don’t have to compromise on carving the perfect centerpiece this Halloween,” said Chris Smith, fruit buying manager at Morrisons.
