In a significant development in the aviation industry, Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning national carrier, has entered into a strategic alliance with Sabre Corporation, a leading force in global travel technology. This partnership is poised to revolutionise Riyadh Air’s operational capabilities, enhancing its planning efficiency and commercial prospects as it gears up for its inaugural flight in 2025.

Based in Riyadh, KSA, and Southlake, Texas, the collaboration was announced on February 12, 2024, marking a pivotal step for Riyadh Air in its commitment to redefine air travel. By integrating Sabre’s advanced network planning and optimisation solutions, Riyadh Air aims to refine its service offerings, ensuring optimal route planning, demand forecasting, and capacity allocation. This move is expected to significantly boost the airline’s revenue and operational efficiency.

Sabre’s suite, including the Sabre Schedule Manager, Sabre Slot Manager, Sabre Profit Manager, and Sabre Market Intelligence—Global Demand Data (GDD), will provide Riyadh Air with a competitive edge. These tools are designed to offer deeper insights into network planning and commercial strategies, thereby facilitating informed decision-making and fostering revenue growth.

Vincent Coste, Riyadh Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasised the transformative potential of Sabre’s technology. He stated that this collaboration is a key milestone towards achieving operational excellence and scaling the business efficiently. Coste highlighted the importance of selecting world-class technical suppliers to empower Riyadh Air’s journey towards its first flight, with a focus on enhancing passenger experience through greater revenue returns.

Sabre’s solutions are renowned for their ability to increase aircraft utilisation, manage critical slot portfolios, forecast demand and profitability, and provide access to comprehensive market data. These capabilities are crucial for Riyadh Air as it seeks to establish a profitable network plan and optimise its hub structure.

Garry Wiseman, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Sabre Travel Solutions, lauded the partnership, noting Sabre’s history of driving results through innovative solutions. He pointed out that Sabre’s Network Planning and Optimisation suite has supported brand differentiation and operational excellence across the airline industry for over two decades.

This strategic alliance not only signifies Riyadh Air’s forward-thinking approach to leveraging technology for growth but also underscores Sabre’s pivotal role in reshaping the commercial planning landscape in aviation. As Riyadh Air prepares for its debut, this partnership with Sabre is set to play a crucial role in its quest for efficiency, profitability, and a distinguished position in the global aviation sector.
